Ah Omegadotter is a girl after my own heart. Hope she makes it to the moon. I was almost 5 in 69 and remember still how fascinating it was to watch the first moonwalk. We took pictures of the scenes on the TV and of us watching it. My older brother built all those models of the rockets and the lunar module. But my favorite astronaut-er cosmonaut-was Valentina Tereshcova-the first woman in space. I also thought she had the coolest name.I even wanted to name one of my dolls after her but ended up going for something conventional.

Omegadotter can look up info about Valentina Tereshcova and among other things she will always get one Trivial Pursuit question right since most Americans make the mistake of thinking the first woman in space was Sally Ride.

Keep dreaming big OD!

Mmmm.... beets. We belong to an organic CSA, and they kept pushing beets at us. And we kept not knowing what to do with them. But we found a good borscht recipe and have been making massive amounts of borscht the last few weeks. One of the great make-on-Sunday-eat-throughout-the-week dishes.

Haven't really gotten around to the greens yet, but we've learned to love collards.

Those beets look absolutely scrumptuous! BTW, Neighbor Dana has brought me more of those to-die-for tomatoes; you did get some, didn't you?
