This may be related to my deep blue problem. No way can I get a proper picture of crystal palace lobelia or the similar form that has a white eye. They come in as a pale bluish flower. Wait -- I did take a pic of Rocky Mountain penstemon the other day, which is a solid purple purple. I jusst checked. I get purple, all right -- but a pale purple. On the other hand, my lavender & deep purple iris are reproducing nicely. So let's exchange pictures via email & see how they turn out on one another's screen?

Agree with D2. There are some reasonably priced screen calibrators to get a better color match.

I don't know if you're shooting in automatic ('green box') mode or not. If you can set your speed, apeture, etc., shoot your photos with a slightly wider apeture than metered. It intensifies the color.

Have you checked out "Tips From the Top Floor"? (www.tipsfromthetopfloor.com) It's a great podcast about photography. I took a workshop from the host a couple years ago and IT ROCKED.

It's the old color calibration issue. Your camera has one idea of color calibration, your OS/Browser has one idea, your monitor has an idea. Unless they all agree, the colors will be off. And purple has always been an especially difficult color to get right.

Firefox 3.5 will support tagged images that include information on the color profile involved. But your camera (and the post processing software) needs to do the right thing here, too.
