The blooming tree/bush that you couldn't identify - it looks like a Choke Cherry to me. It should develop tiny very tart almost black cherries, mostly seed, where the flowers are. The flowers have a lovely smell. It is a native tree found all over the US, Canada and well up into the Arctic where it becomes a low ground huger like willows. Makes a nice jelly.
