I sympathize. Once, Husband was trying to open a stuck window after our house had been painted. He was pounding on the sill in an upward motion with is fist at a very awkward angle. I said, "Don't put you hand through..." SMASH. He put his hand through. Sliced himself good and deep, and like Omegadad, severed a tendon. (we could actually see it...ew) But my dumbass of a husband wouldn't go to the hospital, even after he nearly passed out. He now has a terrible scar and trouble moving that finger.
