You forgot to mention that Palin is dishonest.

And AGIA has done nothing to 'push through a natural gas pipeline'. In the words of Tony Palmer, VP of TransCanada: <i>"No customers, no credit, no pipeline"</i>.

Sarah Palin has also made Alaska the highest taxing province on the planet. Remember that oil funds roughly 90% of the state's budget. Taxes deter investment. Get ready for an income tax and/or a state sales tax.

I believe Sarah Palin will go down as the worst governor in Alaska's history.

Well said. You brought out some points that we in the Lower 48 wouldn't be aware of. Hope some of those points get out. A very well reasoned post.

IMO, this choice underlines the anti-intellectual tenor of the GOP. In line with the Reagan-Bush1-Bush2,'I'm just a goodoleboylikey'all' POV. I'm ready for an intellectual in the white house...a thoughtful, committed-to-complexity, respectful-of-gray-areas, measured and educated THINKER...and, if that sounds elitist, so be it.

Thanks for the post! I think you are right on the mark about why he chose her. For me, a Republican, she has re-energized the campaign. I have been disappointed in McCain this year, he seemed to have lost his independence. Now he adds a woman who seems to have a bit of the maverick about her. She seems to be articulate, committed, and willing to go out on a limb. Since he has run a town and now a state, I think she has some experience that no one else running has. She can learn the rest while VP. I never agree with any candidate on all their positions so those we don't see eye to eye on I can live with. At least she is not telling me things she doesn't believe just to get my vote. I like that you didn't feel you needed to demonize her just because you weren't going to vote for her. Well done!

My feeling exactly, and for that reason she would never get my vote. After spending about 48 hours thinking about it, I say you have a much more generous view of her, and McCain's reasoning for choosing her than I do. I think with his reasons were that it's all about packaging, and she is well packaged. It's just I don't see a lot to be impressed with in the package.
