"I don’t like little Chinese girls."

Someone told OmegaDotter this today at school.  I don’t think I can talk about this right now.  Give me time to calm down.

    OOOOOhhh.When I calm down, and get my head on straight I’ll have something articulate to say, I think? But, that’s not very helpful to you right now. Will this country ever get past this? I think of all the Native Alaskan kids in the schools your daughter attends. I’ve been there and many of the Yupiks certainly look like they have an Asian connection.

    and this person continues to live? i think not. according to my son who is 8 (vietnamese) no one has ever said a word to him about him being asian, about him not looking like his parents, about him being adopted..nothing. i told him he has got to be the only adoopted asian child in america that hasn’t had something said to them about any of the above. so is he oblivious or not telling me? who knows. at least you hear about it. though that probably doesn’t seem so good at this time.

    Tell the teacher. Tell the principal. Especially if The Dotter’s school/district has a zero tolerance policy. Tell even if they don’t. Had the same thing happen to one of my girls a year back. If The Dotter is really upset, it’s good to show strength — as in “we’re not going to put up with this crap” strength.

    If it was an adult — kick ‘em in the box. Or send for the old Box Kickin’ Crew.
