Oh Omega Mom…

Being in the land of Brittania with a 7 year old, we were caught up in that scare as it was exactly when she was to be vaccinated. And trust me it was a real one. We didn’t triple vaccinate but went the route of individual vaccines - alot harder on the child (and more pricey as you had to pay personally). I feel now such a fool to have been caught up in it and our new addition was revaccinated against Measles despite the chinese paperwork.

But you know what got me was what I heard this summer in the states. We stayed with friends and overlapping with us was another friend - a 40 year DR staying with them who has never vaccinated her birth child with anything (now 16 months). If the DRs won’t do it, what hope is there (and the DR is AMERICAN!).

My brother was born in 1952 with cerebral palsy, several months after a measles outbreak. I think I’d rather gamble on the vaccine than on not having my children vaccinated.

I’m old enough to have had all the “childhood diseases” and my kids also had most ’cause they were pre-vacine squirts and all I can say anyone who wants to go back to those days is playing Russian roulette with their children’s health and lives.
But the ignorant are still with us, jumping on any silly band wagon that rattles by.

P.S We had reason to believe that my ex had a slight case of polio shortly after we were married and living at 1602. He could never play piano as easily or as well afterwards.

I Strongly believe that autism is real and caused by an environmental trigger that kicks in some gene sequence that was previously dormant. I don’t believe this has been caused by the vax, more likely it is something in the food processing, much like peanut allergies are on the rise in countries that dry-roast peanuts, but not in those that boil peanuts.

Jay got whooping cough as a child, and still has lung damage from it. To not protect your child, I am rather upset by that concept.

Someone my wife knows has never had her child vaccinated. Now, that child has a mild form of autism. And when I asked if the mother would ever vaccinate, the answer was “no, because she thinks it will make the autism worse.”

Essentially, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy and action.

My best friends brother died of measels in 1965. When we came home with our daughters their files said they had all the vaccines. We had them both re-vaccinated.

My opinion on the autism spike is that it’s linked to chemicals - you know - the ones that get dumped, or “stored” underground…. Or maybe it’s as simple as twinkies. How can food stay soft for decades; clearly there is something wrong there! : )

Those that don’t learn from history are bound to repeat it. I’m just old enough to have seen people who were paralyzed by polio, who lost their hearing due to measles, heard about my mom’s best friend who died during a severe flu outbreak in the 50’s.

I wish the reason for autism could be found. My theory is that it is entirely chromosonal, and kicks off at a certain age range. But what do I know?
