I loved the tickly feeling I got when reading the beautiful prose at the beginning of this post. I knew, knew, knew there was going to be a punch line...but I just couldn't get over the gorgeous phrasing a word choice.

Sounds familiar -- our yard in Connecticut was full of rocks of all sizes. Several large boulders were unearthed when my parents built their house back in the '70s and were deposited into a "rock garden" on which we climbed as kids. But yeah, I know the feeling of finding a teeny rock and having it turn out to be a boulder. No fun for gardening either! And I remember the sound of my father cursing when the lawn mower hit a rock. You generally didn't want to be around when that happened... ;)

The need to remove heaved rocks from the farm soil annually by your Grandpa G. as a lad lead to a sigh of relief when the family left SD for ARIZ-pers com.

I love hearing your Alaskan tales, even if they're a bit rocky--or full of too much light--or gray and wet--or plagued with moose.

I like it, but then again, I'm not dealing with it.
