Aw yeah - bringin' the big back. How pink and adorable :)

I used to hang my head upside-down while simultaneously spraying my entire head with Rave #4 and blow-drying the hell out of it. Then I'd flip it up real fast-like and continue spraying until I passed out from the lack of oxygen. When I came to I had perfect Big hair. :D

She's cute as can be! At least the curls lasted long enough for a photo. My older daughter has thick heavy hair that won't hold a curl even straight off the curling iron. Younger daughter can hold curls -she even got a curling iron for Christmas. Unfortunately, she doesn't like to COMB her hair, so she now has a pixie.

I had jheri curls in the 80s.

It is so true that people don't like their hair. My oldest-14 has beautiful long curly blond hair. But when she wants to look special, she straightens it. Yup.

I remember using frozen orange juice cans (empty) for curlers--and I'm dating myself. Foam curlers hadn't been invented and the hard plastic ones had to be shared with my two older sisters, so the cans were an improvisation.
Why doesn't anyone like their hair? Mine's very thick, very straight and I'd given a million dollars to have curly, cury, curly hair.
And, for OD's sake I hope none of this curler craziness ever comes back into fashion

that sassy cowgirl picture... that's my kid. that's her hair after we wash it (it gets less curly the farther from a wash we are). It's really odd... everyone says she has my hair (which is sort of true, only mine is a lot curlier) and it's partly true, in that she has my fine, sparse hair. (and she is also adopted, so where she got my hair we will never know)

I spent the 80s (ugh! shoulder pads! narrow ties!) trying to straighten my hair, since it is curly but does not do big very well, and it isn't the right kind of curly. Sigh. No one is ever happy with their hair.

Just scrolled down to see the pictures of the dotter with the curlers and I have to say I give her much credit for sleeping with those things in her hair. I too have the same thin, straight hair as our dd though my mouse brown coloring pales in comparison to her shiny black/brown hair. I remember sleeping (OK-NOT sleeping!) with those crazy foam rollers circa 1972 and the curl lasting but 20 minutes.

Just last week dd insisted on going to school with her hair down after she had slept through the night with braids in her hair. She wanted to show her classmates her "curls".

Then this afternoon when I asked her what she wants for her birthday she said "a Hannah Montana wig". Ugh!

ps-Do you have a picture of the 60's look? That sounded so cute.
