But it was a real problem. See, the SS office had refused to give her our last name until the adoption was final, and she didn't HAVE another last name. I have their cards in a file upstairs, but I never use them. Because we were victims of identity fraud years ago, I decline to put their social security numbers on forms, unless absolutely essential, such as in the case of tax returns.
