In regards to the comment left by the anti-LASIK commentator in part 1, does that person constantly google blogs looking for anyone remotely saying positive things about LASIK so they can leave a link back to theri anti-LASIK blog?

I just wonder. Cause you know we know of a blogger who is anti-adoption because.....well, you know.

THANK YOU!

I really needed the deep down and dirty. I am seriously considering it. The place I am looking at does the umpires in the MLB (I know? Is this a good or bad thing)
I wonder about dry eye because I have NEVER needed the eye drops for contacts or anything like that.

What you are describing with the 20/600 is about where I am at. I'm pretty useless without corrective lenses....

Thanks.. I am reading up on the risks as well

I'd like to address the complication issue. I did a lot of research prior to having Lasik, and I knew that dry eye was a risk. So, I went ahead fully informed of the risks. Since there is absolutely positively NO SUCH THING as surgery without risk, I was fairly comfortable doing so.

As it turns out, I did experience fairly profound dry eye for about a year after the surgery. I got a prescription for Restasis, which completely corrected the problem. About two months ago, I suddenly started having dry eys again, and suspected my eyes might be developing a sensitivity to the Restasis. I stopped the Restasis, and in about a week, my vision was back to normal and the dry eye was gone.

I've had no problems since then, except very occasionally if I'm using antihistamines, if I sleep too long, or conversely, if I don't get enough sleep. The problem is usually corrected easily with plain old saline drops.

Even if the dry eye had been a persistent problem, the twice daily drops were far easier and less complicated than fooling around with glasses, contacts, cleaning contacts, having spare glasses, regular sunglasses, prescription sunglasses...oy.

I have no regrets. Period.

I agree with being informed. But scare tactics and horror stories do not benefit anybody.

I am a huge LASIK proponent, and I know that your experience is how it goes for most folks, BUT I have to mention that even though I went to one of the LASIK pioneers in Canada for my procedure, it's not always painless or without trauma. For one thing, my valium never really kicked in. So I was a total freak all the way into the procedure room. And the cocaine drops they put in your eyes to numb them? Didn't numb mine. I have a resistance to "caine" medications (which is why my dentist has to dope me up but good before fillings) and didn't realize until it was too late that I wasn't getting the full benefit of the numbing drops. Plus, I have deep-set eyes, so when they...um...sucked them out of my head? It hurt like a mo-fo. The light show was good, though. Oh and you forgot to mention the smell of burning hair.

It was still worth it, though.
