I was unable to walk across a room without my glasses before my LASIK. After the surgery, it took me three months to stop reaching for my glasses on the nightstand every morning -- it was that ingrained! But ooooh, it was the best thing I ever did. Ever, ever, ever. Perfect vision without even thinking about it is a beautiful thing. I forget for months at a time that I wasn't born this way. My story is very similar to yours. I immediately dismissed RK as an option as well, especially after I read reports of patients' eyeballs sectioning like oranges when pressure was applied to them. Ick. I hear ya on the glasses. My vision was even worse than yours. Even with the featherweight lenses they make these days, my glasses were ridiculously heavy. And expensive. Oh yeah. I hear ya on the glasses. My vision was even worse than yours. Even with the featherweight lenses they make these days, my glasses were ridiculously heavy. And expensive.

According to the doctor, my proscription hadn't changed since then. I wear them 4 days out of the week and can see fine without the lenses once they are taken off. However, now I've lost my nearsight and it's screwing with my longsight. And, it's become harder and harder to wear the lenses. Thus, I'm looking strongly into LASIK.
