(Self-centered tangent starting in...3...2...self-centered tangent starting...NOW.)

I have an odd relationship to this issue. Y'see, I've never, ever told my family about my blog, but they know about it. (How they found out about it, I do not know, but I'm not that hard to track down.) The weird thing is that none of them have ever mentioned it to me. So: they know; I know they know; they may not know I know they know!

I initially felt pretty constrained by the fact that I know they read, but then I decided that if they weren't going to make their presence known, I shouldn't feel I had to cater to their sensibilities in any way. I almost feel like it's kind of a good way for them to learn what I'm really thinking, because God forbid we should ever DISCUSS such things. It's a way for me to be (perhaps) understood without the discomfort of having to overcome a lifetime of behavioral conditioning, you know?

(End tangent.)

It's an obvious difference. To me.

It's why I use my real name, and am public about my blog. I hold myself to my same standards. I use it as a communication outreach, not a tool (or weapon) wielded by me.

What I post *does* go in my local newspaper with some regularity.

It gets read more widely than I realize at times.

I will sleep on a post, or not post something that remains a ?. I'll bounce things off my husband.

Good advice, OM.

Good Lord, there is a difference! Anyone who can't see that has no business blogging. I post some embarassing things, but I'm willing to own up to them... because they aren't personal. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
