SBird--Apparently the sock thing is *quite* common with kids with sensory issues. Another manifestation is the clothing tags problem. Luckily, we don't have that one.

Courtney--I'll have to search out 11D; I don't know that blog.

Figlet--I'm like that about closed shoes...the Teva-ending-day will be coming very, very soon, sigh.

Figlet and Project NiHao--The thought of not having google-ability to search for an answer makes me shudder. It has been so nice to have peace and quiet in the mornings!

Theresa--The pajamas--hah! Our dotter strips off her clothes and gets into a Big Shirt (one of daddy's T-shirts) as soon as possible once we get back home. I will keep the turning-the-socks-inside-out in mind as an idea, thanks!

DS-L--I'll check out the Stride Right socks, too. And, yes, it REALLY bothers the dotter; it's not a whim.

My oldest had the sock issue -- he would still be sitting on the steps twisting and crying about his socks as the school bus pulled away. Folks - don't fight. IT REALLY bothers them. Omegamom, fyi, Stride Rite also carries a seamless sock that totally works in our house.

We have had the same issues with dd and I dreaded the start of Kindergarten for her wearing the old stiff plaid jumper, peterpan collared blouse and (shudder!) nylon knee socks. Amazingly she does not mind the blouse or the jumper. I think the fact that the other girls have to wear it helps. As for the socks we finally figured out last week the seams don't bother her as much if we turn them inside out and she wears them that way.

I have always suspected some degree of sensory issues with dd ie, hating tags and having a preference for soft fabrics.

If I could just get her to stop changing into her pajamas as soon as she comes home from school! Sigh!

Glad you were able to find some socks that worked for the Dotter.

Oh man. Pre-Google it was a Nightmare to find those socks. 16 years ago, we had to start the sock/shoe process an hour before we had to leave to be anywhere with my then 3 year-old stepdaughter. That is, until I found a pair of seamless toe socks at some store, and then ran back to buy 183 more pairs when it became clear that they were the answer to the howling.

I'm glad the socks work for the Dotter. I wouldn't wish those sock tantrums on anyone.

Don't you wonder what people did pre-Google? Seriously. Not being funny. So glad the seamless socks work and that the Dotter's tootsies will now be properly winterized. Sayeth the Mama who dreads the first day of socks for herself. Hmmmm.
