My folks moved to the Valley of the Sun in 1980 when I was 20 and boy did I hate it - esp visiting gramps in Sun City! What I love about az is the north..the area of which you talk. Driving back and forth from El Paso for holidays (14 hours each way) has made me fall in love with the Southwest. I'll never forget the sunset in Arizona (it's always sunset in Arizona during those drives for some reason, whether we're coming or going.)
