GAH! I loathe June Bugs. They love to get in to my hair and buzz incessantly while I run around screaming like a g- g- girl! ;)

AtomicMama--We don't get the iridescent green ones here, which is a shame, because they are *so* lovely.

Mamasan--Those sound like the "Big Bugs" that Big Bug Creek is named after. Far too reminiscent of cockaroaches for me!

The Arizona June bugs I remember are those dark brown beetles about the same size as the scarabs. When I was a little girl down in Phx, we'd catch June bugs & tie a string or, rather, a thread to them so that they couldn't fly too far away. They were, briefly, our pets.

Sometimes we get both the small, striped and big, green scarabs down here - I love them! June bugs? Don't hate them, but never understood why they haven't gone extinct yet - with such poor locomotor skills and all. Glad you got some productive work done on the house, and some alone time!
