The more you can get rid of now the easier your move will be and the more roomy your home will appear to buyers. Hah! I say this as we continue to sit in our house piled high with all the boxes we took out of my parents' house last week-with my dad sleeping in the midst of all the chaos on the pull-out sofa in the living room. No wonder he keeps waking up and saying "What happened to me?!"

If you find out where you can get an extra brain let me know-I think I left mine in China 4 years ago.

Watching Designed To Sell is very inspirational.

You'll get there. And when you get to Alaska you'll feel better than when you finished a semester in college.
These events are life finals! When you get to Alaska the first thing you should do is something fun, There will always be time to unpack later.

i watched designed to sell for a year before we put our house up. i emptied my closets and packed away 90% of pictures and knick knacks, painted all living areas and had the carpets cleaned. we sold to the first person who looked at it. this was last august as the markets were supposed to be reversing. of course this was in ohio where there was no real boom to begin with. good luck. just clean and declutter...clean and declutter...

I'd lend you my brain, but I fear it is likely to hurt rather than help.

Hang in there

I'm beginning to believe there is nothing as demoralizing as trying to sell your house while still living in it. Seriously. Today I just couldn't do any more "staging" (MY GOD people, I have a 20 month old, she doesn't stage)and took a nap. Actually inspired by your earlier post re: stress and sleep. Hope it gets better for you.

Oh yeah you need to watch Curb Appeal (the afore-referenced show).

I know to our eyes as homeowners things look fine but few people have the ability to envision.

Just pack it *all* up, seriously. All the books, all the photos, all the knick knacks. Even most of the clothes. Empty makes it look bigger.

Walk into Bombay Company or similar and note the incredibly generic groups of threes, and have maybe one group of three per surface, or a clear surface.

Did your realtor give you tips?

Sorry about the hurtful feedback. But I'm glad you are making something good out of it.

(HUGS) and GL!

There's a couple of shows on cable showing before & after on the home staging after the homeowners get the very negative feedback from professionals or people being filmed during the (first) open house. It is facinating.
