Miss C.--Oh, yeah, we're going to be able to "move up" nicely in Alaska--one acre plus, with a new house that's significantly bigger than what we've got now.

SBird--It's really sad, because it's really true. I work with lots of folks who make much less than the median household income here, and the household income to be able to afford the median house here is way above the median household income...

Mrs. Figby--I was thinking of you while I was writing this post. We both seem to have hit the market just at the wrong time. Sigh.

Oh, how I can relate. We are now down to about 75% of our original asking price and are STILL not selling. We may have to go even lower. (SOB!) Even with the depressed market in NJ, we won't be able to afford anything near what we were hoping.

Wishing you every buck you can possibly wring out of the place...

You know, the Valley of Death TV stations are all running stories this summer about how outrageous housing prices have gotten up in Small Univ Town. That no one can afford to live there anymore.

Sigh.

The bright side of things being the same all over is when you are both buying and selling, market forces have to be an asset somewhere... so getting less out of your home also means someone in Alaska is getting less from you.
