If you got a problem, YO, I’ll solve it!

posted in Uncategorized |

OmegaMom is a happy camper this afternoon.

At first, it did not seem good.  The plumber (recommended by the folks at work) was still working on Monday’s calls late into last night.  Small Mountain University Town is, apparently, filled to the brim with burst pipes.

The thought of another night sans H20 thrust fear deep into my comfortable, all-American, upper-middle-class heart.  Ack!

And the cold air rising from the heating vent in the back bedroom gave me visions of ripped or torn or ice-encased heating ductwork.

Then the plumber called back.  Ah, blessed event!  Two cancellations!  So the plumber was coming in this morning!

He arrived.  He investigated.  He found the burst pipe.  He replaced it.  It cost $95.

Life is good.

The OmegaFamily has water now.

There’s still the question of heating ductwork and water damage.  Sigh.

Makes you wonder how dependant we are on our many taken-for-granted utilities we use.

    Glad to hear it!

Hope the other work isn’t too hard to fix

Johnny–We can handle power outages and fuel outages pretty well; our woodstove keeps the living room warm & toasty, and can serve as a place to cook food. But for some reason, not having water just makes my skin crawl. :D
SpaceMom–We’ll see. I’m sending OmegaDad into the cold, muddy depths tomorrow to investigate.

Glad to hear things got (almost) (somewhat) fixed!

We are on well, so whenever we lose power, we lose water. I know what you mean about wanting your water.

Glad to hear it is fixed - we are out in the country and have the same no power=no water, and I get just a little panicky every time we have an outage. It did not bother me so much until the baby came home. Especially now that said baby is a toddler who is potty training and the flush is half the fun of going.

Good luck with the heat - woodstoves are a good thing!
