Her greatgrandmother (my mom) was appalled by such lack of conformity. On the other hand, I was fascinated by her fluffy concoctions -- and how it all changed once she entered school. Now, the standard blue jeans, etc. I think the beau-ti-ful dresses were much more interesting and individual! And furthermore, even the most liberated among us want to find a partner who charishes us... which is kind of "princess-like" I think. But totally normal and healthy too.
