Hi, I found your blog from Dawn, and can't believe I wandered over to a post about cat allergies - and me dealing with a bizarre allergy for 10+ years and with a cat. Thank you, and I'll be off now to the allergist for a cat drool test! Looking forward to reading more.

After seeing the words 'itching', 'burning', 'drool', and 'saliva' featured so prominantly in this entry, I can't help but believe you're going to be seeing some interesting Google queries hitting your blog. :-)

I had never had a bad reaction to cat saliva until my Benjamin. Ben loved to bump his little nose on me frantically and I would get his saliva all over me.....quickly followed by itchy hives. Since then, I find I'm sensitive to the saliva of other cats, but nothing as bad as what you describe.

My kid's allergist says thats true. The reason cats ingnite so many allergic reactions is their saliva, which covers their bodies when they clean themselves.

Maybe this is why I am allergic to cats? Too bad, I love them!
