The bubble is burst here. Houses that sold in a day or so have been on the market for several months.

This is all so nuts, and I hope things work out for the Omegas. I'm happy we bought 14 years ago. Had to fight the husband all the way, but... I was right, the time was right.

Thanks, Paul!

MomEtc.--I thought you had sold your condo already! Here's hoping all goes well.

Spacemom--I'm not afraid it won't sell; I'm more afraid that the large $$ we thought we'd have for a possible down payment for (eek) MD or thereabouts will be smaller. I'd definitely go--whither thou goest and all that stuff, yknow? ;-)

I checked out Zillow, and they're saying $316,000 for our property. Hah. I don't believe it for a second.

Miss C.--NYC? Are you really thinking of NYC? Talk about culture shock! Job nibbles?

Wouldn't this be GOOD news for someone who may want to BUY a house, say, in New York?

Deep breath. If you need to sell, you will.

The bubble might or might not burst. It depends on the area. Where I live, we are literally running out of space. The conservation laws (thank goodness) prevent over development, but then people are being priced out of a place to live.

There is a debate right now on "affordable" health care in Massachusetts. The problem is the governor wants us to use the national poverty level for deciding on who needs help despite the fact that we have a much higher cost of living...

Would you be able to stay in the same part of the country if OmegaDad gets the job?

Thanks for your thoughtful perspective on these issues. I am afraid the vast majority of us are whistling in the dark and hoping everything is going to be okay. . . I mean everything--oil prices, people in places we can't pronounce who hate us, global warming (maybe it's not after all), those people outside the country that want their kids to have a life here instead of places none of us would choose as home, and many more that I am too scared to think about.
