		<description>Yes. I'm a teacher and I just finished writing a paper about how annoying it is that the NCLB act has turned our curriculum into mush. Teaching to the test is the worst thing that has happened to our schools in a long time.

		<description>Amen, sister.  This is a particular soapbox issue for me, and is why two of my three kiddos are in a holistic private school that does not do ANY standardized testing.

Unfortunately, because of his Aspergers and need for special education services, my oldest is at the public middle school even as I type this taking a statewide required standardized test.  He's spent the last 7 years having the answers to this particular test shoehorned into his brains at the expense of real learning.  

What a waste.</description>
