How much is that baby in the window?

The Baby Trade, from the Boston Globe Magazine.

Interesting read (requires free registration). I think she leaves some things out on the bad side of the question of market forces playing a role in international adoptions.

I found the tone of the article to be very disturbing. As an adoptive parent I couldn’t help but feel the author was trying to offend me. By the end of the article it seemed more balanced, but still it had a very “anti-adoption” feel to it.
It does raise very important questions though; ones that don’t seem to get as much consideration as nursery color schemes on many adoption forums.
I assume among the bad things you think she left out are the instances of babies in China being stolen and sold that have been in the press lately.

I look at our new son, and think about how wonderfully things have worked out for him and for our family, then I wonder about his birth-mother.
