The Litany - part 1

posted in Uncategorized |

Here’s what’s in the envelope:

Consent for Service
Client Rights and Responsibilities
Financial Agreement - International Option
Application for Certification/Recertification to Adopt (9 pages)
Authorization for Release of Information
Adoptive Families Central Registry Records Clearance
Application for Certification of Adoption (to the court)

This is for the local agency.

OmegaDotter survived the mocha cake with espresso beans. The OmegaParents did, too. OmegaDotter bounced off the walls for about three hours after the cake ingestion, then fell fast asleep. She is now the proud owner of a horsie backpack named “Dreamer”, a string of horsie lights, and numerous stickers (some horses, of course). She spent the day announcing to all and sundry, “I’m FOUR!”

The horsie backpack has given birth to multiple toys multiple times today.

Hi–I am fairly new to reading your blog, but I want to wish OmegaDotter a belated happy birthday!

I am the mom of two kids adopted from New York City foster care. Foster care adoption may be less expensive than international adoption, but I don’t think it’s any simpler…our kids have been home with us for 3 1/2 years, and due to legal snafus we are still waiting to finalize. Endless visits from social workers, endless paperwork, endless trundling into NYC to see the Law Guardian, the court referee, etc. etc. etc.

I too am bothered by the media’s
trivializing of adoption, and the adoption process, when celebrities do it…I don’t think the process is watered down, even for somebody famous. Opinions, anyone?
